Diet & Feeding Guide
The L114 Leopard Cactus Pleco is a striking Pseudacanthicus species, admired for its bold black body covered in vivid orange-yellow spots. Unlike many smaller plecos, this species grows quite large and requires a spacious aquarium with strong filtration, excellent oxygenation, and plenty of hiding places such as caves and driftwood.
Feeding Habits
-
Carnivorous / Omnivorous Diet:
Primarily feeds on protein-rich foods such as sinking carnivore pellets, shrimp, mussels, bloodworms, krill, and other frozen or live meaty foods. -
Some Plant Matter:
Will occasionally accept algae wafers or vegetables, but protein should make up the majority of the diet.
Feeding Tips
-
Feed mainly at night, as they are nocturnal and more active after lights out.
-
Maintain excellent water quality—temperature 26–30°C (79–86°F), strong filtration, and high oxygen levels are essential for this species.
-
Provide large caves and territories to reduce aggression, especially with other bottom-dwelling fish.
-
Due to its size, ensure the tank is large (200L+ recommended) and well-structured.
