Diet & Feeding Guide
L236 Hypancistrus Plecos are highly prized for their bold black and white striping and are closely related to L333. These carnivorous bottom-dwellers do not require driftwood in their diet and thrive on a high-protein menu. They are nocturnal and appreciate stable, clean water with low light and plenty of hiding spaces.
Feeding Habits
- Protein-Based Foods: Thrive on sinking carnivore pellets, bloodworms, blackworms, and brine shrimp. Frozen and live foods help promote growth and color.
- Vegetable Matter: May accept algae wafers and occasional soft vegetables, though protein should dominate their diet.
Feeding Tips:
- Feed during the evening or after lights out to match natural activity periods.
- Maintain strong filtration and high oxygen levels due to their sensitivity to poor water quality.
- Ideal in species tanks or with peaceful tank mates that won't outcompete them for food.

Dead on Arrival (DOA) Policy
In the rare case that your livestock arrives dead, we offer a fair and standard DOA policy.
To qualify for a credit, you must contact us within 2 hours of delivery. Claims made after this period will not be accepted.
When reporting a DOA, please provide a video and three clear photos of the fish in its unopened, sealed bag as originally packaged. Clear images are required for processing your claim.
Once approved, we will issue a credit for the fish (excluding shipping) toward a future purchase. If you wish to receive a replacement, shipping costs must be covered again, or we can hold the credit for a later order.
