Diet & Feeding Guide
The L046 Zebra Pleco is one of the most striking and sought-after Hypancistrus species, easily recognized by its bold black and white stripes. Native to fast-flowing, oxygen-rich waters of the Rio Xingu, it requires high water quality, strong currents, and plenty of caves or crevices for hiding.
Feeding Habits
- Protein-Based Diet: A carnivorous species that thrives on sinking carnivore pellets, bloodworms, brine shrimp, and other meaty frozen or live foods.
- Occasional Variety: May accept high-quality algae wafers or blanched vegetables, but protein should dominate the diet.
Feeding Tips:
- Best fed at night, aligning with their nocturnal nature.
- Maintain excellent water quality—low nitrates, warm temperatures (28–30°C / 82–86°F), and high oxygen levels are critical.
- Ideal for species-only or carefully selected peaceful community setups.

Dead on Arrival (DOA) Policy
In the rare case that your livestock arrives dead, we offer a fair and standard DOA policy.
To qualify for a credit, you must contact us within 2 hours of delivery. Claims made after this period will not be accepted.
When reporting a DOA, please provide a video and three clear photos of the fish in its unopened, sealed bag as originally packaged. Clear images are required for processing your claim.
Once approved, we will issue a credit for the fish (excluding shipping) toward a future purchase. If you wish to receive a replacement, shipping costs must be covered again, or we can hold the credit for a later order.
